Pollution
oh you!
a fistful of clouds
drawing pictures
swallowing
black smoke
gathering
all the vapors
rising up
wandering freely
going
higher and higher at will
forgetting
you’re polluted
San-San Tin was born in Burma. She has written short stories, essays, reviews, and poems for Burmese magazines and is the author of A Greener World: Introduction to the Environment (in Burmese) and the translator of Where There Is No Doctor (for UNICEF/Rangoon) and Collected British Short Stories. She is the co-author of No Time for Dreams: Living in Burma Under Military Rule (Rowman & Littlefield, 2009), published in the US. She now works as an international broadcaster at Radio Free Asia and lives in Washington, DC. Her collected poems in Burmese were published in Burma in 2015.
