The Listening Room—Refugee Art Project, curated by Sally Brucker.  Collaborative installation utilizing sound, story, poetry, and mixed media, inspired by the stories of eight refugees from Ethiopia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Iran, Darfur, El Salvador and Vietnam, who are currently living in the DC area.  Seven artists and one poet were paired with one refugee each, in an effort to more deeply understand the complexity and depth of their experience.  The resulting artwork conveys the unique aspect of each story and the shared connections formed through the process of listening.  Opening reception on June 1 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Gallery Talk on June 22 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, Playback Theatre Performance on June 22 from 7:00-9:30 pm.  Takes place in the Printmaker’s Gallery on the second floor.
