The Maryland Writers’ Association seeks entries for its 2014 contest in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Prizes of $300 for first place and $150 for second place in each category. Judges: Ned Balbo, Susan Muaddi Darraj, and Dean Bartoli Smith. Previously unpublished: send up to 3 poems, short prose up to 3,000 words, or opening chapters of a novel up to 7,000 words. Winning titles considered for publication by Apprentice House Press. Reading fee $15 per entry, except for novel entries, which has a fee of $40. Reduced fees for MWA members. Submit online.
