The Hurston Wright Foundation sponsors two workshops, August 2-3, open to writers of African descent. “Fiction: Writing from the Heart and Soul” is led by Bernice McFadden, and “Poetry: Crank-Shaped Poems” is led by Thomas Sayers Ellis. Classes held at The Hill Center in DC; discounted hotel rates available at Capital Hill Hotel. Classes meet 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, lunch included. $20 application fee: submit up to 25 pages of fiction or 5 poems of no more than 10 pages total. Applicants should provide a brief (no more than one page single-spaced) biography discussing their writing life and any publications of their work; note any other writing workshops attended, and if you are an alum of a previous Hurston Wright workshop.
