Poetry contest: previously unpublished poems up to 21 lines; one entry per person.  Must not contain “material that is obscene or objectionable.”  Top three winners get cash awards ($500, $250, $150); top winner also gets membership and a free class at The Writers Center.  Judge: David McAleavey.  Open to residents of MD, VA, and DC who are 18 or older.  Deadline: Feb. 14.  The Festival also sponsors contests in short fiction and essays (with adult and high school winners), both with deadlines of January 24.  All winners in all categories honored at a special event during the Festival (April 11 – 13).
