To Celebrate President’s Day, the Library of Congress will open the Main Reading Room to the public. At 10:00 am, Patricia Smith will read from Shoulda Been Jimi Savannah from the center desk. Guided tours of the Jefferson Blg. will take place at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 (first come, first served). Reference librarians will demonstrate services, instruct how to obtain a reader registration card, and answer questions. The Young Reader’s Center will have family events celebrating the presidents as children, plus families are invited to bring historic props (such as top hats, mustaches and spectacles) so kids can read a famous speech at the presidential podium. Free admission.
