Live to Read, an annual city-wide reading initiative, focuses this year on the Civil Rights movement, and features read-a-thons, family activities, panel discussions, and celebrations.  Thousands of books distributed for free to DC public school students.  Featured books for 2013: The Watsons Go To Birmingham, 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis (recommended for students in grades 5 and 6), and Bombingham by Anthony Grooms (recommended for 11th graders and adults).  Sponsored by the Humanities Council of Washington.
