Andrea Carter Brown is the author of a collection of poems, The Disheveled Bed, and an award-winning poetry chapbook, Brook & Rainbow. Poems from her current manuscript, September 12, have won prizes from River Styx, the 2011 James Dickey Prize from Five Points, and the 2011 Pudding House Chapbook Contest, from which her collection Each Boat Signs the Water is forthcoming. She has been on panels about the poetry of bearing witness and the poet as historian at AWP and the Split This Rock Poetry Festivals. Most recently she edited, with Margaret B. Ingraham, the poetry anthology Entering the Real World: VCCA Poets on Mt. San Angelo. A founding editor of the poetry journal Barrow Street, she now lives in Los Angeles.
